Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,

worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness.

It was 4:30 am when I woke from my sleep. Trying and failing to get back to sleep, I felt a gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit, ‘go and watch the sunrise and worship Jesus’. I rolled out of bed, quietly got dressed, gathered my camera gear together and headed to the beach. I arrived a little before sunrise, when the sky was a lovely shade of pink and the sea so still. A few dog walkers passed by and an early morning sea swimmer took to the water. 

Peace. Stillness. Praise. Worship. These words from Psalm 29 repeating in my head. 

At about 5:50 am the sun begins to show itself, rising quickly from behind the headland painting the landscape a brilliant shade of orange. A slight haze on the horizon, boats dotted about in the sea. 

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness. Again, these words from Psalm 29 going around in my head. 

By the sea is where my heart most freely worships the Lord. It has been far too long. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for giving me that nudge and leading me to worship my Lord and Saviour.
