I have a longing;
A longing to be creative,
A longing to be active,
A longing to have a sense of accomplishment.
My brain feels restless, tires of sitting, watching mindless show night after night.
My brain wants to stretch, be challenged, be worked.
Yet. Yet I feel uninspired and unmotivated.
My body is tired from lack of sleep.
My soul is weary from always giving;
But my mind is restless.
My body, my mind and my soul are in conflict.
What I long for is a closeness to God but also a depth of knowledge I haven’t known before.
I want to rest but be active;
I want to study but meditate;
I want to be alone but be with people.
And so, I ask Jesus to hear my longings, to listen to my confusion.
I ask Jesus to give me peace;
to satisfy my deepest longing;
to put my mind at ease.
I have a longing;
A longing to be creative,
A longing to be active,
A longing to have a sense of accomplishment.
I have a longing for Jesus.
