A couple of weeks ago I had the rare opportunity to attend the evening service at our church. It had been a gorgeous day weather wise and having not done some photography for a little while, I took my camera bag with the intention of staying in town for the sunset and taking some photos. I must admit, I find photography in Aberystwyth itself quite difficult because I like to shoot seascapes and I just don’t find Aberystwyth seafront very inspiring when it comes to compositions. But, on this particular day, before morning church while wandering around the castle with my children, I found a composition of the castle that I liked so this formed my plan for photography that evening.
For quite some time, I’d been focusing mostly on long exposures and going to the same location to practice. While it has been fun challenging myself, learning a new skill and seeing progress in that, it was good on this evening to leave the filters in the bag, the tripod packed up and be just my camera and me in a ‘new’ location.
I have a feeling over the next few weeks photography will take a bit of a back seat as we’re in a very busy season with work. However when I’m able to go out a bit more again, I would like to try shooting in some different locations and maybe photograph something other than the sea at sunset… maybe!
Anyway, for now I hope you enjoy this series of photos 🙂
