Since July, I have wanted to go to the stretch of coast between Barry and Swansea, namely, Dunraven Bay. Having never driven on the motorway alone before – just me and the car – I kept putting it off, feeling content with going to Barry Island and Penarth. However, I reached the point where my camera and I needed somewhere new to explore. And so, I planned my visit Dunraven Bay.
When speaking to a friend about my weekend plans to go to Dunraven Bay, she seemed excited by the idea of going on photography adventures together so the invitation for her to come with me flowed from my lips. She accepted. Nash Point became the destination of our little adventure.
We arrived at Nash Point with a few wrong turnings along the way (what’s a road trip without a few misdirection from the navigator!?). We parked up and off we explored. Mary climbed to the top of the cliff edge. It sure does put things into perspective when you see how tiny us humans are in comparison the world.
I recently bought a prime lens for my camera and wanted to practise some portraits – different to what I normally shoot. I set myself the challenge of keeping my prime lens on the camera and not switching to my zoom lens. Challenge completed – the prime lens stayed and I took some portraits I am pleased with. Usually, I am alone in my adventures with my camera but on this occasion it was wonderful to have a friend to adventure with. Somebody I share an interest with.
A trip to the seaside isn’t complete without a sunset. There’s nothing like being by the sea at sundown, with a chill in the air, to restore your soul. Seeing God’s magnificent handiwork, again putting things into perspective; made all the more special having someone to enjoy it with.
Nash Point did not disappoint. And my trip to Dunraven Bay is still on the list.
